I recently joined a gym & Im loving it! 😀 🏋️♀️It’s called Planet Fitness. It’s basically one of the cheapest gyms, but I love it lol. Their slogan is “Judgement Free zone” & they’ve built their reputation around this. All of their advertising & the concept, are all about this place being well, a judgement free zone obviously lol. You walk in & there’s a huge sign explaining what they’re about. Every machine & the walls are emblazoned with the slogan & phrases like, “ no gymtimidation”, & “no critics.”
It makes me think about Christianity & how our hearts should also be a “judgement free zone.” Lol. Not just when you’re in church, but all of the time. 💕 Just to note; ADMONISHING is not the same as judging, & they are two different things. To admonish is to lovingly but truthfully warn someone of a danger or error in their ways. Like a REAL offense according to the Bible, not some rule people made up because that’s how they’ve chosen to live (aka legalism). Admonishing in this way, with love, according to Biblical principles, is not judging. 💕❤
To an extent when you admonish you sort of judge I guess, but in a loving way & based on the Bible and not on your personal preferences. Judging negatively is to think or treat them as lesser. It has a self- righteous kind of attitude. Whether it’s for a real sin that is discussed in the Bible or a legalistic made up rule by man, judging in this manner can cause harm to people & we’re not called to do this. Many Christians have left churches because they are judged this way. 😓😔
You can lovingly but firmly admonish someone. I’ve been admonished many times & I’m sure grateful for it because if it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t have been able to see my mistakes & change my ways for the better & grow 🌱. My Mom admonishes me like, almost daily LOL.😂 If you have more wisdom than another Christian, & you see them making a mistake or sin, the Lord will lead you sometimes to admonish them in love, so they change their errors & draw closer to Him. But judging only makes people want to separate more from God. So our hearts need to be a “judgement free zone!” lol. Because this way, we are first of all being obedient to God, as He hasn’t called us to pass judgements on others like this, & secondly, we are drawing more people in to Him because we’re demonstrating God’s mercy & love. Kind of like when they were going to stone to death the adulterer woman & Jesus said this:
7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let anyone of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” — John 8: 7-11 NIV
Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Matthew 7: 1-2 NIV
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Matthew 7: 1-5
We need to be merciful & understanding of others’ struggles, this is what Christ has shown us & what He has called us to do as well. ❤ We can & need to say the truth & admonish each other, it’s our duty. Sin is sin. There are no sin “hierarchies,” but we shouldn’t be living in sin. Jesus told the woman to leave her life of sin. Why? Not to judge her, but so she can be saved! Jesus was the one person who was free of sin! 🙌💕 Just because someone says a biblical truth, it does not mean they are judging, so as long as it’s done in a respectful & loving way. Just like Jesus. 💖🙂💖
15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Ephesians 4:15-16 NIV
I hope you’re having a great week!! 💕🤗💖 Xoxo
PS- Planet Fitness is cheap ($10 a month!) but their equipment is quality, the place is super super clean & spacious, & very well ventilated unlike other gyms I’ve been to. I highly reccomend it! 💯🙌
This is so profound! This is the reason why there’s annoying legalistic people going around breaking relationships in the church. Condemning people can cause division….
Awesome article…

So much truth in this. Admonishment is a powerful tool to be used in loving manner to help a brother or sister in Christ. Sadly, people do see it as judging.
Great post 🙂
