Where’s the Love?! Pt.2: Learning to REALLY Love

20180613_161511_0001

It’s finally Friday! Yay! I hope you’ve had a blessed and productive week!

So my last post about love and relationships, was based on Ephesians. Today, I wanted to write about love again, based on 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

To me this is, love defined! I used to think this describes God’s nature only. But these verses also are a guide for how we should be treating each other. It makes me think of love within marriage too and other relationships as well. Afterall, we are made in His image, and we are to be imitators of Christ! While some of the verses seem pretty straightforward and “simple”, in my opinion these attributes are very deep and can seem so hard to reach. We all have different struggles. For some people, being patient with anyone can come easy. But they struggle with envy. Or vice- versa. We all have a struggle. But the only way to do it is with the Holy Spirit’s help! There is just no other way!

When I read these verses, I think of the image of leaving your old self behind, that “old version” of yourself dying. That person no longer being there because you are a new person in Christ. Surrendering completely to Christ. Nobody is perfect. We just need to strive to be these things on a daily basis. And yes it can be a struggle but without God and the Holy Spirit’s help, there’s no way we can learn to really love the way He wants us to. Of course forgiving and loving does not mean you have to let people step all over you. But I think it means you still serve them and even respect them. You show them love. You are still good to them. While at the same time, if it’s a person who is offending you, sometimes it is wise to keep your distance in order to keep the peace. But not harbor any sort of resentment in your heart or keep bringing up offenses of the past.

At least for me, before I met God, I was not loving- kind! Lol. Not in the way the Lord requires at least. Though I thought I was. Even with my anger issues and everything, I did think of myself as a loving person and, I guess I was. I wasn’t all evil LOL, there was a lot of goodness in me. I certainly was aching for love and it was apparent. But, I had poor self- control when it came to certain things, and I did not exhibit the fruit of the spirit. I’m sure you’ve met someone like this. So how could I really love people the way that is described above, if I didn’t know God’s love? If I hadn’t experienced it for myself? The Bible says that it’s easy to love those who love you. Everyone does that. But we have to love those who don’t love us, our enemies. The people who want to destroy us!

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. -Matthew 5: 43- 48

The world has their OWN definition of love. But of course for us, followers of Christ, who have experienced the love of Christ, our definition is quite different. When I was in the world, it was easy for me to love those who loved me. I had nothing but love, patience and kindness for them. All those great things. The challenge comes in loving those who are against us, our enemies.

Applying all of the above verses from Corinthians, to an enemy… Can you even imagine that? Or loving the people who love us, but are behaving in ways we just don’t like? That’s what makes the difference. And only having a heart for God will make us do that. Only when we are truly transformed by God, will we be able to do it. Otherwise, it simply does not even make sense to us.

The world calls that crazy. And many Christians simply refuse to follow the Bible. They doubt it. But we must simply follow the word, and let ourselves be transformed by it. 💖😀 It does not matter how much work you do for the church, if your heart is not in the right place. Pride is not right in the eyes of God. He loves us and gives us a chance of course, but we cannot hold pride in our hearts. Especially toward the things of God. If God has given us a directive to love people (see above verse from Corinthians again to see what it means lol), then why are we acting in unloving ways toward them? 🤔

If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

1 Corinthians 13: 1-3 NIV

The reality is, that many Christians, have not actually experienced the love of God for themselves. There hasn’t been a full transformation. Therefore, it is impossible for any Christian to really give the kind of love described in these verses, when they themselves, simply don’t have it. 🙁 You cannot give what you don’t have. It’s really as simple as that. If you don’t have God’s love in you first, you won’t be able to give God’s love to others. 🙁

So my message is simply, that we cannot try to love others in the way it says in these verses, on our own strength. It might work for a while, but eventually you will fail at it again because it’s not the real deal. We need to experience God’s love for ourselves first and then, with the Holy Spirit helping us, we will be able to extend this kind of love to others. So the first thing is just opening our hearts and putting aside all pride and doubt. We have to ask God for the Holy Spirit, to come help us in this area. Loving others is something I think everyone struggles with at some point or another. But the first thing is, you have to be willing to admit you need help in this area & ask the Lord for help. Otherwise, no changes will take place. In these verses, we have a clear guide as to what God’s love is. But we cannot rely on our own strength, as this will be fruitless. We need to rely on God. It starts with humbling ourselves before the Lord. 🙏💪 Just as in Galatians, we read of the fruit of the Spirit, here we can’t possibly see this character change without the Spirit being in us. ❤🙏 These verses are very closely related imo. ❤

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Galatians 5: 22-23 ESV

I hope this message was helpful and that it inspired you in some way! God is truly amazing and if we open our hearts to Him and just humble ourselves before Him and listen to His voice, He can mold our character and shape us into the very best we can be for His glory!! We must ask for wisdom & discernment. ❤💯 I am actually going to do a 3rd & final post about love, God willing I want to have it up early next week! I also will be doing my Friday music posts every other Friday, that way I have more time to do more “reflection” kinds of posts.❤🤓🙌 Have a great Holiday weekend!! 🤗🙏 Xoxo

Remaining Grateful & Faithful through the Seasons 🙏❤

Sometimes in life, there are periods that we go through that are just simply stressful. They’re more intense, for many reasons, and those are periods that we have to go through. They bring situations that are really outside of our control. And it is in these times, that we are the MOST tempted to abandon our faith in God. However it is in these times that we NEED to hold on to God the most and must remain firm in our faith. This is because these are also periods that God uses to develop great character and growth within us. He’s getting us ready for our next level, for bigger blessings, to use us in even bigger ways for His glory! If we remain grateful and faithful during these seasons of stress, we will see greater blessings from Him in our lives. Not to mention, we will be saved!! If we don’t show that faithfulness, we won’t pass that test, & how is the Lord going to promote & use us if we cannot even pass the smaller tests? We will remain on the same level with the same problems. Struggling with the basics of faith. Unless our character is developed, we won’t be ready to receive those blessings. So God prepares us for the seasons ahead.

It is vital that we let God shape us and that we make sure to keep an attitude of humility before the Lord. The enemy knows God is preparing us, which is why he wages his biggest war against us during times like this. It feels like the pressure knob of life is turned up to the maximum it can go. But we must take off the blinders the enemy tries to put on us, and recognize all the blessings we do have and that we often take for granted when we’re in the midst of difficult situations. We must remember that God is our provider, so whatever it is we need, God will provide it. That is a promise from the Lord.

Most of all, we should rejoice. Because these trials are the great opportunities the Lord is using to make us grow. He wants to see us develop & grow closer to Him & learn to trust Him more and more. And we need to see this as our reality and not be resistant to the Lord when He is trying to change our hearts. That is THE reality. Don’t believe any other distorted version of the Truth that the enemy tries to sell to you. Otherwise, we will not grow and remain stagnant spiritually. The enemy likes for us to be blind to the blessings we have in our lives, that way he can corner us and make us feel frustrated, and like we have no hope and no way out. He like to plant seeds of doubt in your mind & heart, he likes to make us think that God has abandoned us. But of course, these are all lies from the father of lies. We have to focus on God. Not on the size of the problem, and not on what season anyone else may be currently going through.

Would you ever date anyone who abandoned you when things got even a little bit difficult in your life? Would you be a friend with anyone who stopped talking to you when you had a rough situation, only to reappear when things are good again? I don’t think anyone would lol. But this is exactly what some Christians do to God. And can you imagine how incredibly FAITHFUL God is to us, that even though we’ve left Him like a million times, He remains? He always takes us back? He’s open to us, wants to save us, & wants a close relationship with us! 💖😃 That thought to me, is simply amazing! But if we want to move on to the next level, we have to remain. God has never failed us & will never fail us. We have to stop looking at the distractions surrounding us, at all the “evidence” or reasons why something in your life is so wrong. We have to stop believing the enemy’s lies. Listen to God’s voice. Listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit in your life. ❤🙏

So no matter what you do during your trial, just always remain faithful to God, with an attitude of gratefulness and humility before Him, and He will make a way in any situation. 💖🙌

Hope you are having a blessed week! Xoxo 💖

Happy Friday! 😀🙌

Happy Friday!!

I’m back! Lol. It’s really been a crazy couple of weeks, but great! My sister had major surgery & God did a major miracle! She’s been recovering incredibly quickly!! Much better than expected. God is really good!! 🙌🙌 Also this weekend my brother is visiting. It’s always so much fun when my brother comes. We all get together & just eat, talk, & laugh. 🙂

I’ve been busy making graphics for the other ministry (they take some time lol), & praise God that site is almost at 30k followers!! 🙌🙌 It’s been growing a lot!! 🙏❤

I wanted to share something that happened to me yesterday. So, during the week, I like to listen to sermons at least 2 or 3 times a week. I listen to Tony Evans, whose app I highly recommend you download!! HIGHLY!! And a ministry from Puerto Rico who is on 🔥🔥🔥 for the Lord!! It’s called Maranatha Radio Ministries.

Anywho, I’m really glad I listened to Tony earlier this week. Because he was talking about resting in the Lord, having the Lord’s peace DESPITE our circumstance. I know this is something many of you have probably heard before, but you know the Lord has given him a great way of explaining things, & here’s a quote from that sermon that really impacted me:

“Rest does not mean nothing is wrong, it means that your circumstance has no effect on your wellbeing.” — Dr. Tony Evans

Wow! That really made it crystal clear for me! ❤🙏 So back to yesterday lol. I was driving, happy as can be because my brother was arriving! Then it hit me, I was suddenly just, overwhelmed with worries & sadness. All I could think of, was what is WRONG with my life. My bills. My mood just shifted into sadness. I sat there in my car waiting in a red light, & I just noticed that mood change. I was like, well maybe I’m PMS-ing 🤣😂 But pms doesn’t make me DEPRESSED. I was, suddenly, SAD. Worried, stressed. Having I doubts. I felt like a really deep feeling of sadness which reminded me of those years when I was depressed. I felt so helpless & hopeless for a minute there, I could hardly pray.

So I did a quick errand & when I came back in the car I just reflected & I just knew this was the enemy attacking me. I can talk & reach out to GOD WHENEVER because of JESUS, but why do I feel that I can’t pray?! Or too weak to pray? Because those were the enemies lies. He was trying to steal my joy & my peace!!!! Oh how he hates to see me happy in the Lord. It drives him nuts!! How he hates that I am at peace, happy, & united with my family!!!! He will try anything to destroy it!!!

So I prayed in Jesus name, rebuked. Repeated out loud the promises in the Bible, that way the enemy is reminded of his place. NOT IN MY HEART, NOT IN MY HOME. I mentioned Tony Evan’s sermon because while the enemy kept planting lies in my mind about worry, I just remembered, well wait a minute… no matter what, I CAN REST IN THE LORD. 💡 In God, I have PEACE. Despite any situation, I can have joy, because I have salvation! So this thought I’m having, is from the enemy, & it must be held captive because I KNOW God is GOING to take care of my situation. God CAN DO what seems impossible for us. Why should I be sad? I have salvation!! In every sense of the word! 😀🙌❤

I know it seems crazy but immediately after I said this prayer, I felt relief. 😌🕊 It’s like I felt my soul smile again. 😀💖 I put on my fave worship music & treated myself to Starbucks for being such a warrior LOL. Or maybe I was just looking for an excuse to treat myself I dk LOL 😂 I’ve been FREE from the chains of depression for like 6 or 7 years now thanks to Jesus! I intend to keep it this way in Jesus name! 🙌😀🔥

Have a great weekend! Xoxo ❤🙏💖

Where’s the Love?! 🤔❤ (Part 1: Dating, Relationships, & Self- Esteem!) 🤷🏻‍♀️💖

20180613_161511_0001

Hey guys!

Last week, I posted on my IG that I would be writing a blog post about love. And this is it LOL. I could basically write a book on love because there is a lot that the Bible has to say about it.

God is love… We’ve all heard this verse I am sure…

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

— 1 John 4:8 NIV

Obviously, the Bible says a lot about love, & in the next few weeks I’m going to look more into this topic! I really am in love with…. love! Lol. Today, I am focusing on modern relationships & what the Bible says about it. I’m going to Ephesians 5:21- 33, where Paul is talking about how we need to treat each other within relationships. I strongly suggest you read the entire chapter 5, you will love it! 🙂

21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”[c] 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Submitting… That one word makes everyone cringe nowadays lol. Nobody wants to do it! But they want the other to do it! LOL. These verses have SO MUCH to teach us about relationships! At least it taught me lol. 😂 So not only are we supposed to have Christ as the center of our relationships, but these relationships need to reflect that of Christ and the church, submitting to ONE ANOTHER. 😀 Many men are so quick to say that women are supposed to submit to them, lol, but then they turn around and treat them in unkind and unloving ways. They disrespect them, yell at them, and even emotionally or physically abuse them. I am talking about supposedly Christian men here. (Lord deliver me from these types of men!!!!) And there are women who want to be the head of the household, they want to control everything, and routinely disrespect and put down their partners. (Lord, don’t let me become this!!! Lol) Both of these things are out of God’s order… it clearly states that each person must submit to one another. You have to love and respect one another!

The husband is the head of the household, but that is not a pass for abuse. He must show the kind of sacrificial love that Christ showed for us. Wow! That is quite amazing. If I think about choosing the men I date according to THESE standards, and me behaving this way as well, things would have an order that I can honestly say none of my past relationships have ever had. God’s perfect order! This is my guide :)💯✔

Relationships are complicated lol. And now more than ever it seems. Modern society is presenting an even bigger threat for the family unit, therefore since the family unit begins with love and with one man and one woman loving one another, in an agape, sacrificial way, with Christ as the center, the enemy is really trying his very best to destroy that. Relationships between men and women are most definitely under attack. It is God’s order, it is His creation, so the enemy absolutely hates it of course! And I know nowadays a lot people are very quick to blame this on “feminism,” but I don’t believe this at all. Women having the right to vote, drive, and being appreciated and loved, is hardly to blame. There is nothing wrong with women doing any of these things. The problem is that people, both men and women, nowadays have a tendency to practice “self- love” ABOVE all else. They’ve become their own idols! Sounds crazy right!? Well, it is written in the Bible that this would happen!

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. — 2 Timothy 3:1-5 NIV

Jesus also said in Matthew 24:12-13 (NIV) the following:

12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

All I can say is… WOW! My mind is blown because this is exactly what we are seeing! Have you noticed this? You can and should love yourself of course, after all, God loves us and we are His. But as Christians we need to remember this:

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:36-40 NIV

So God must always be FIRST in our lives! The problem is, we’ve actually taken the idea of loving ourselves to a whole other level, and have erased God from the equation completely and put OURSELVES up there! Oh no! So everything is out of order. What a mess. Then we wonder, what is wrong?!

Commandment #2 is the kind of “sacrificial” love spoken about in the above verses from Ephesians. However, our society as a whole teaches us to be self- seeking instead of God- seeking. They teach us to completely forget the needs of others (this includes our family or spouses!) and just to satisfy ourselves. This message is completely against the Bible, yet it is fed to us constantly. People who are lovers of themselves get highly rewarded in this society. Have you noticed that? They get put on a pedestal by others who are also lovers of themselves. But they are always broken inside, their families are broken, and their lives are a MESS. I understand that a lot of people deal with self- esteem issues. I did as well. But I have to say, nothing ever worked for me to heal my self- esteem, until I came to Jesus. He is the ultimate self- esteem healer! I could’ve gone to a million spa self- pampering sessions, but I still would’ve left the same broken, depressed, anxious girl I was had I not found Jesus! 💖🤷🏻‍♀️

Maybe it’s just me, but that saying to “love yourself first before you find a relationship” always made me feel like I was never going to find love because I am so flawed! How in the world could I possibly really love myself? I didn’t know where to begin. I used makeup, clothes, etc… but nothing worked. My ego was just so incredibly FRAIL inside. But guess what? All we have to do is love God & follow Him! The rest will take care of itself! I now understand my real worth more without even trying, because I know what I’m worth to God!!

More and more, I am understanding that the reason why I’m single, is because God is preparing me. ❤ He’s showing me that in order for me to have a successful marriage one day, I don’t have to be this perfect person. I just need to LOVE HIM. I just need to put HIM FIRST. He’s showing me that I will need to love my husband the way the Bible says, submit to him and respect him ( I know that sounds appalling to today’s modern woman, I KNOW. But this is God’s order and actually God’s plan is not designed to demean us as women in any way, but actually to help us because He’s our creator!). He’s showing me little by little what that looks like, as I had been selfish and self- seeking in the past, and have had to forget the erroneous patterns that this culture has taught me, and learn a new & correct way of looking at things. 😍🌟

He’s showing me that I deserve to be respected and deeply loved. But that’s also not a pass to disrespect. He’s teaching me that my husband is not going to be perfect either so I will have to be patient and forgive, and he will be this way with me! Mostly He’s showing me that as a woman, I am special and I have value! He created me that way! Not because of my body or my looks, my job, or my education and accomplishments like the world says, but because I am a daughter of the Most High God! Isn’t that simply amazing?! I’m not knocking any of those things because I believe everyone should pursue goals in life and get trained, educated, take care of yourself, etc. But I used to let those things define me. And God says, we are so much MORE that those things…  💖

God is also showing me that I need to give up trying to take control over my dating life, and just give it all to Him! I don’t have to stress or chase down dates for myself. The current dating scene may be horrible, the hearts are growing cold & the odds seem bleak, but I can’t focus on that. I just need to focus on God. He will be the one to provide that person,  He will work the miracle, I just need to be obedient. I used to think that because I can cook (somewhat lol) and have certain other attributes, that I am ready for marriage lol. But God looks at other things because He has a plan..When I get married, I want it to be forever. And I know for a fact, the only way this will happen is if I make God first in my life, and have Him as the center of my marriage and entire life. ❤❤

Thank you so much for reading this! I know this was super long, I tried to make it shorter but somehow it only got longer LOL. 😂 Next week, I will be posting more about love, God willing. Stay tuned!!! Hope you enjoyed this and are having a blessed week! Xoxo 💖😇

Happy Friday!😀💖🌞

20180504_005656_0001

Happy Friday!! I hope this has been a truly blessed week for you guys. I have to apologize because I planned on posting this week a blog post about love & relationships, but I wasn’t able to because it takes a lot of research & reflection, & I’m not quite done with it. I know you guys are taking your time to read my posts, so I like to make sure my every statement is God’s Truth, straight from the Bible! 🙌 Not only that, I have a responsibility to God which I take VERY SERIOUSLY & I believe every Christian blogger should too… If we say things that lead people astray, we’re held personally responsible for that. So I cannot just post whatever & pass it as God’s truth. It has to be THE truth. We have to study the Word carefully, take time to reflect, & be  led by the Holy Spirit 🕊💖🙏 There’s great power in our words so we need to be careful what we say or type! 🤐😊

Things have also been quite busy around here, as I’ve decided to take on a new project! Well, the Lord led me to it & has allowed me to help out an evangelist & preacher, I am doing social media & graphics for his ministry! I’m SUPER EXCITED about this, & I just feel beyond blessed about this opportunity to help!! 😀💖🕊

Today is my first official day posting on the ministry’s facebook page, so I’m just feeling super blessed!!! I will be posting devotionals, thoughts, videos, messages, etc. Of course all based on the Word. The page is in Spanish, if you all are interested, find it on Facebook or Instagram @Amantes_asu_presencia 🙌💖🙏

Well, it wouldn’t be Friday here in my blog without some new music lol. I love Hawk Nelson’s style of music. They are awesome!! Of course not all of these are new, but this is a Hawk Nelson special edition! (I just decided lol) 😂🙌🎧🎵 I hope you enjoy!
