Sometimes, the thought of a new year can cause anxiety for some of us. Society puts a lot of pressure on us to think “positively” about a new year, make big goals, plans, etc etc … & while that is great, for certain people (like myself), it can cause anxiety, fear, a feeling of being overwhelmed, & depression if we are not careful. I wanted to share with you 6 things to remember if you are like me, prone to these emotions. This is regarding new beginnings in a Biblical perspective, & these are Biblical truths that I always remember if I start to feel that fear, anxiety, depression, & overwhelmed feeling.
I highly suggest you read Psalm 37 🥹🩷
Biblical truths about New Beginnings:
1. A new calendar year has no actual meaning in itself, realistically it does not. People even become supersticious, do rituals, thinking that certain things must be done before the clock hits midnight in order to have this “new beginning.” But in reality, it is another day & just as important as other days in the year. And every second of everyday, the Lord stands ready to pour out His love, mercy, & faithfulness upon us. In reality, every second of everyday, is a chance for us to start new in the Lord, to make new goals & plans, being led by Him, & to receive forgiveness from the Lord & surrender our lives to Him.
2. New beginnings only come from comitting our lives to the Lord. A real, true new beginning, is when we become born again, repenting of sins & recognizing Jesus Christ as our Lord & Savior. We become a new creation, He gives us a new heart, & puts a new song in our mouth! That is the TRUE NEW BEGINNING!
3. We can experience new beginnings every single day! When we repent of our sins, the Lord is faithful & just to forgive us, & cleanse us from all unrighteousness as His Word says. Every second of every day, is a new opportunity the Lord gives us to try again with Him. To Trust Him more, to know Him more. His mercies are great & are new every morning! The promises of God for His children are for every single day for eternity!
4. It truly is okay if you don’t have the whole year figured out right now! You don’t have to have everything mapped out by midnight on December 31st. Yes it is good to have goals, desires, but just make sure that you are being led by the Holy Spirit, & not anxiety, comparison, or any other reason or emotion.
5. The most important thing in 2026 and beyond, is that we seek Him daily, grow closer to Him, & trust in Him more. Don’t try to make plans without Him or do things in your own strenght or knowledge.
6. If we want success, we must place Him FIRST in every area of our lives, put everything in His hands, rest in Him, & simply take delight in Him!!! He is capable of doing far more than we could ever think or imagine. He will strenghten us & lead us. Don’t let the thought of a “new year” take your focus off of what God wants to do with you, His will, plans, & purposes. It is easy to become distracted & chase after our own desires & ambitions. But we must stay focused & keep chasing after God! He knows our every need, & will take care of the rest! Just chase His presence above all things!
I hope you have a wonderful new year & rest in the fact that with the Lord, every second of everyday can be a new beginnings, because He is the author of new beginnings!
