Halloween: Harmless fun? (Should Christians celebrate?)

20181006_152234_0001

Hello! I hope you guys are having a blessed week!

So, the Spirit moved me strongly about posting regarding this topic because, as you all may know, Halloween is upon us, and many Christians are struggling with whether they should or should not celebrate this holiday.

There are those Christians who say, it’s no big deal. It’s just harmless fun, socializing, dressing up, and mostly doing things for the kids. I used to go out and party, drink alcohol, but I know for many Christians that is not even the case. They just go “trick or treating” with the kids. Regardless, I used to be one of these Christians who celebrated this so- called “holiday.” Today however, it is a completely different story. My life has changed radically thanks to the Lord’s mercy and grace, I have been truly saved and transformed, and I have declared WAR against the enemy. I am an active and effective warrior in this war. Now, I am not bragging because there is a lot more growth that needs to happen & this is all because of God. BUT, I certainly was not where I was before, where I would be out celebrating with the enemy, on his holiday October 31st. (Lord rebuke him!)

Some Christians haven’t even realized, there’s no neutral. You’re either with God, or you’re against Him. the Bible says that if you’re lukewarm, God is going to spit you out. Some versions say vomit you out. What does this mean to vomit or spit you out? When something disgusts us, when it is so abhorrent or revolting, or it doesn’t settle well with our stomach because it is rotten, we vomit it or spit it out. So being lukewarm has that effect on God with us. It makes God have to spit us out because it goes against his nature of goodness and holiness. God is holy. We cannot be living a worldly life and think God is okay with it, or like he has to accept it. The Bible is real. It is the TRUTH. The one and only truth. God means what He says. Do not take His words lightly. If you are celebrating in any way on October 31st, please don’t think that is okay with the Lord. Don’t gamble with your life and don’t underestimate it!

7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

— Galatians 6: 7-8 NIV

15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. — Revelation 3: 15-17 NIV

I’m not going to go into the history of halloween because I am sure you’ve heard it before. The fact is, TODAY, NOWADAYS, it is a night where a lot of witchcraft happens. More so than on other nights. I don’t want to go on too much detail, but believe it or not there is a lot of darkness in this world. Children are sacrificed on this night to our enemy Satan. And we, the children of God, who have been put here on earth to represent the light, have fallen asleep on the battlefield. We’re asleep! We need to wake up. We should be praying that whole day and rebuking because the powers of the enemy are on overtime that day. If you’re not going to be watching, at least I urge you, do not join the enemy in celebration. Please do it for your sake and the sake of your family. By not participating, you are showing God that you love Him,  are loyal to Him, and obedient. And the Lord rewards that GREATLY. We want blessings from God, however you are out partying with the enemy on his “holiday.” Celebrating this “holiday” is being disobedient to God because we are supposed to honor Him in all that we do. That is not honoring Him. That is disobeying. And disobedience, does not come without its negative consequences. And I’m telling you this by experience because when I was out in the world (I said I was Christian but I was worldly), and I celebrated halloween, my life was in shambles. Every action had its consequence. And I’m grateful to God because, He is so merciful He even saved me from many consequences I rightly deserved.

I see halloween decorations in stores, and honestly it is so repulsive. I want to vomit. And it breaks my heart. I try to skip it, but you always end up seeing it. Skulls, items idolizing witchcraft and darkness and evil. HOW. I love Target. To the point where the employees recognize me lol. But I hate how they have so much halloween stuff. Yesterday I was there checking out, and this lady behind me had all this halloween decor. It just repulsed my spirit so badly and I felt bad for her at the same time… How can people love this darkness. They love that which is out to kill them, to destroy them. They’ve been successfully lied to, fallen for the deceit of the enemy, that is how. Just as I once was. I never ever loved anything about darkness or witches or scary. I hated it all always as a matter of fact because its creepy. And I thought it was okay because I was always sort of “wholesome” in my way of celebrating (even though I was drinking alcohol LOL). But that was my way of thinking! Lol.  And no, it is still not ok to be celebrating as a Christian, even if you’re not dressing up scary or anything. Because the point is, you’re still celebrating a holiday which is dedicated to Satan and all that he loves, which is everything that is evil and completely opposite to the Kingdom of God. Even if you’re not DOING these things yourself (like witchcraft etc), you’re still JOINING in their celebration, UNITING with them. And Christians are to have NO PART of darkness…

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[b]? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”[c] 17 Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate,
says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”[d] 18 And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”[e]

– 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 NIV

But I had parents and church friends who were praying for me! So, thank the Lord, I was able to break free from all of those lies from the enemy! I pray that if you’re reading and are thinking of celebrating halloween, that you do not. That you stay home and do something that has nothing to do with it. That the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you just cannot do it. That you will just want to stay home. 🙂 In the name of Jesus, Amen. ❤🔥🙏🏻🙌🏻

You belong to the one true King, you are sons and daughters of the King. Let us recognize this and become effective warriors for His Kingdom! 🙌🏻🔥💘

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. — 1 Peter 2:9 NIV

This is getting kind of long, but I want to tell you a story. 😀 Well, here in the US, there is not as much witchcraft as in other countries of the world. Which is why I believe people take the whole halloween thing so lightly. Well, I am from Puerto Rico. There, there is more witchcraft and it is more visible. Not as much as in places like Haiti or anything. But, it’s real. When I was growing up, one halloween, this strange thing happened. We were always Christian and we weren’t allowed to go out that night. So I was in my room and this cat was trying to come in through my window, omg that cat was POSSESSED. 😱😱 I have never ever seen anything like that before or after. EVER. It was scary. It was crazy trying to come at me, making these crazy noises and it was so insistent on coming into my room. I have never ever seen that cat before. But it was like following ME trying to get me. Anyways it would not leave. It was there for a while. But I always had the image of that cat because it almost looked like human. It was very aggressive like it was trying to kill me!!! (Which is why I don’t get why people think possessed cats are cute decor because if you’ve actually seen a possessed cat trying to come at you, you would not think it’s cute at all, that is the enemy!!!)

Anywhoo, So fast forward to last night! I had this dream where I was in a room, and it was the same bed set from that time where I lived in Puerto Rico, but it was me now. I was laying on the bed and I felt a presence, like a bad presence, I felt the enemy, and I stood up and started to look for him. And this crazy possessed cat appears suddenly!!!! It was scary, but this cat was white (the one from my childhood was dark), but then it lounged at me to kill me and I grabbed it, and took it by the neck, and all of a sudden I see my hands and they weren’t my hands, they were God’s hands. And I completely crushed its skull. It was done. Then I threw it on the ground and stepped over it and kept walking. (Sorry guys if it seems graphic but it wasn’t graphic in the dream!!! It really was not.) I love animals, I think it was symbolic obviously!

But it was such a powerful dream and I was like wow. I just woke up and praised the Lord. We have victory over the enemy. That victory has already been won through Jesus. All we have to do, is trust God and remain FAITHFUL and OBEDIENT. Stay close to Him and abide in Him, and we will have victory over the enemy who seeks to destroy us! And the way in which we show our faithfulness, is through things like this, the choices we make when it comes to whether we choose to celebrate halloween or not. In my dream, if I wasn’t with the Lord, that cat would have destroyed me. The cat represented the enemy. It had the power to destroy me. But it could not because the hand of the Lord was with me. I was covered! I think the reason the cat was white is because sometimes, the enemy comes dressed as the angel of light. But of course he is the great impersonator, the great deceiver. Sometimes we may think something is harmless fun and it’s good! It’s okay! Just a few hours, a little trick or treating, it is hurting no one. But that is what the enemy wants you to think. In reality, it is all a tactic made to destroy you and keep you asleep. And if we’re not on our feet, abiding with God, faithful, we can easily fall victim. Don’t be fooled!!!

And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. – 2 Corinthians 11:14 NIV

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. — John 15: 4-16 ESV

But the Lord is always faithful, He loves us, and like I said, the battle has already been won so there us hope and victory in Jesus! So let’s remain faithful and strong in the Lord ALWAYS. In the name is Jesus, Amen!

I leave with you a song, it’s a bit older but I heard the lyrics, and it really touched me for some reason. God really loves us! He wants the best for us! Have a wonderful weekend and God bless you!! Xoxo 💖💖💖

      1. I think it’s because some have been lured inti thinking that the holiday really isn’t that big of a deal. But, as you say in your post, when we observe what the holiday celebrates, it is literally darkness and death. 😳 Who wants to celebrate that? (Not me!)

      2. Yes, Amen!!!! We really cannot take it lightly!! Another great passage that I didn’t add is Romans 12:2》》”Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasingand perfect will.” We cant conform. We have to be ruled by the Spirit not by our flesh! 🙏🏻🙌🏻💖 Lord help us have discernment in these confusing times!

  1. Hi there! I admire your zeal against anything that portrays evil or doesn’t shed light on God’s glory. In these days it is critical to be obedient to God’s word and walk soberly to the fact that a spiritual enemy exists to rob, steal and destroy. That being said, I do think we can focus on what we can do in a positive, life-filled manner on that day (Halloween), since, the reality is, so many precious children are out celebrating it, and the reality is that a a larger percentage of people are just having fun, not doing witchcraft. We can’t stop the holiday from existing, so we can shine God’s light on that day and every day! Never let any day bring you disgust or heartbreak because God created every day as a day of rejoicing (This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it). Every day should be celebrated as a day that God is Lord of all and is in control.

    1. I will also leave you here this Bible verse! From my post above, because, this is not my opinion I’m just randomly trying to push on people. It is what the Word of God says:

  2. Thank you for your comment!!! The day itself doesn’t take away my joy. Of course not. 🤓Theres really nothing more positive & life filled than the Word of God. 💖 It is life itself. As Christians we represent the light, we are the light in this world. We cannot compromise. We cannot go party like the world in order to get them to like us. We cant be like the world. We represent the greatest hope this world has ever & will ever see. Just as Jesus was about the Fathers business 24/7, so should we be about our Fathers business 24/7. This is what God expects of us as His children… The Bible is clear that His children should have nothing to do with darkness. Halloween is a holiday dedicated to darkness, regardless of how “wholesome” some may make it seem. It is darkness. We are light. So no Christian should be celebrating, doing so, is disobedience. This is a holiday about darkness & evil. God HATES all of those things. Days do not bring disgust, I said the items in stores do. Because they are repulsive & disgusting to the Spirit of God which lives within me.

Nothing can surprise God. As Christians, we have personal responsibility here on earth to advance His Kingdom. And we’re not going to do that by compromising. God bless you, thank you for reading & for your comment!!! ❤❤❤
